Data Visualisation Poster

2025
This data visualisation poster compares forest loss across four countries over the past 20 years. It highlights the difference between deforestation caused by natural fires and the larger impact of human activity, while also visualising associated CO2 emissions. 
The design aims to translate complex data into a clear and engaging visual system. The poster was produced using lithographic printing, with separate metal plates created for each colour layer.

All materials used in the process; plates, ink, and paper, were recyclable.

This typographic poster was produced entirely using traditional letterpress printing. Each letter was individually set by hand, with spacing, kerning, leading and alignment physically adjusted using metal type and spacing material. Even the small body text was composed and printed through the same process. I also experimented with ink application and colour density, creating variations from solid single-colour prints to more textured, irregular patterns within the letterforms.

Bilingual Typography

2025

This project explored how bilingual typography, reading direction and physical interaction can shape visual communication. Using English (LTR) and Farsi (RTL), I designed a rotational poster that changes reading direction when turned, while communicating the idea that despite different languages and cultures, emotions remain universal.

The poster was produced using a two-colour screen-printing process. The artwork was separated into individual colour layers, printed onto transparent films and exposed onto photo-sensitive screens. Each layer was then printed separately, requiring careful alignment and registration to ensure the two colours worked accurately together. The process also involved experimenting with ink, pressure and colour combinations to understand how production decisions could influence the final visual outcome.

Information Hierarchy Practice

This experiment explores how different hierarchies can shape the way content is accessed, read and interpreted over time. Each piece was approached as a distinct visual system with its own logic, exploring how information hierarchy, scale, orientation and composition can guide the viewer through different levels of content.

The posters were printed using Risograph, experimenting with a single-colour master, halftones, grain and tonal variation. The Riso process introduced distinctive textures and imperfections that became part of the visual language.

Non-print methods

This experiment investigates how information can be communicated without conventional ink-based printing, using material-driven methods such as laser cutting, engraving, embossing, debossing, UV, and thermal processes

The aim was to explore alternative forms of visual communication where meaning is conveyed through depth, texture, light, and material interaction rather than colour or printed text. To test this, I developed a small booklet as a collection of experiments. Each page focuses on a specific non-print method, and the booklet was later assembled through a simple binding process. All pages were produced using found materials and scrap paper, allowing the exploration to remain resource-conscious while also highlighting how different substrates affect the outcome of each technique.


Importantly, this was not only a technical exploration. Each method was paired with a specific content theme to test how effectively it can communicate meaning. For example, visibility vs invisibility was explored through subtle embossing and UV-like effects, where information becomes readable only under certain conditions.
Transparency and obstruction were tested through layering and cut-outs, revealing partial content. Hierarchy without colour was examined through depth and layering, using physical structure to indicate importance.
Material honesty was explored by allowing the inherent qualities of each paper to influence the message. In this way, each technique was evaluated not just for its aesthetic qualities, but for its communicative potential.
